Congratulation to Kurdish mathematician, Caucher Birkar for winning the most prestigious math award at the “2018 Fields Medal” ceremony.
After Maryam Mirzakhani, Birkar is the second Iranian immigrant who has won this medal. He moved to the UK as a refugee and currently is a professor at the University of Cambridge.
After receving the medal he quoted: “I hope this news will put a smile on the faces of those 40 million (Kurdish) people.”

تبریک به ریاضیدان کورد، کوچر بیرکار، برای بردن نشان «فیلدز ریاضی ۲۰۱۸».
بعد از مریم میرزاخانی، کوچر دومین مهاجر ایرانی است که این عنوان را نصیب خود می‌کند. کوچر به عنوان یک پناهجو به انگلیس سفر کرده و اکنون استاد دانشگاه کمبریج است.
«امیدوارم این خبر، لبخند شادی بر لبان ۴۰ میلیون کورد در خاورمیانه بیاورد»، جمله‌ایست که وی بعد از دریافت این نشان در سخنرانی خود به آن اشاره کرد.
