I spent 10 lovely and very exciting days travelling in Iran with a friend. We spent some time in Tehran, Kashan, Abyaneh, Isfahan and Shiraz. Iran is a beautiful country with so much to see! People are exceptionally nice, welcoming and helpful and the food is outstanding. To receive a visa we got help from locals who registered us at a travel agency.
One thing we were somewhat struggling with was accommodation. We could not really book a room together as we were a female and a male but not a married couple. It turned out couchsurfing is quite popular and we were hosted by a lovely family in Shiraz.
