From series “A Collective Performance of Hope”
The beginning of spring, which marks the first day of the Solar Hijri calendar, is celebrated as a collective performance of hope in Kurdistan. In addition to being a symbol for the passing of the cold and dark winter, and the arrival of warm and bright spring, for historically disenfranchised and socioeconomically marginalized Kurdish people, Nowruz signifies a political moment to imagine change and practice togetherness through harmonies of rituals. The bonfire turns the valley into a theatrical landscape of catharsis for these wilful subjects in an orchestrated and unrestrainable public space.

آغاز بهار در تقویم شمسی مترادف با شروع سال جدید است. در کردستان روز اول بهار را درکنار یکدیگر جشن میگیرند و به موازات طبیعت، امیدها هم تازه میشوند. بهار نشانه پایان سرما و تاریکی و شروعی دوباره است. در کردستان همچنین مردمان کرد فرارسیدن بهار را فرصتی چندباره برای تمرین همبستگی و حرکت به سوی تغییر می دانند. آتشبازی نوروز دره را به صحنه تئاتری نورانی برای ایفای نقش این بازیگران پر امید تبدیل می کند.
