I haven’t shared much of my recent travels in Iran, but now I just felt like sharing a short insight of our trip in November 2017. We went by bus from Shiraz to Ahwaz, took a line taxi to Dezful, staying with friends, enjoying Dezfuls tasty buffalo milk products and starting our day trips from there. once we went to Shushtar, its watermills, the mighty Karun river, choghazanbil the zikkurat and other places close by. the other day we went to Shush to explore its ancient sites there. from Dezful we went to Andimeshk to take the train to Dorud and from Dorud we had a crazy taxi ride to Esfahan. All together it was an amazing trip! a very different part of Iran, with a unique atmosphere and plenty of interesting spots to discover. i wish we could have gone there in spring though, but it just means we have to go back at some stage :) i really recommend to get to other regions in Iran, if you can spare the time. it gives a broader understanding of the country and its people when you discover the regions that are not that popular for the majority of foreign tourists. this photo was taken before our sunset boat ride on Karun river, passing water buffaloes when they enjoyed their evening bath on the shore. i wish i could beam myself back above Shushtar’s watermills right now to sip chai under a traditional woven roof in the mild autumn sun …
