Announcing a new event series: Middle Eastern Women
Series of talks, discussions, screenings, and exhibitions about Middle Eastern women.

The term “Middle East” is a rather new term that is not derived from the Middle Eastern countries’ literature, but it’s a Eurocentric term used by the “Western” agents referring to a group of nations in relation to the geographical position of the “West”. In this regard, the Middle Eastern woman’s image is also interwoven with this western representation: a distorted, unreal and manipulated image, mixed with mystery and menace.
In the seeyouiniran cultural house, it is our responsibility to change this distorted representation and paint a different and closer-to-truth picture of the living experiences and achievements of these women and challenges they face in their everyday lives as well as their historic struggle towards equality by providing a space for unheard narratives surrounding the theme “Middle Eastern Women”. عبارت «خاورمیانه» نه واژه‌ای برخاسته از ادبیات مناطق و کشورهای زیر مجموعه، بلکه واژه‌ای است اروپامحور که توسط عاملان غربی برای اشاره به مجموعه‌ای از کشورها در نسبت با موقعیت جغرافیایی «غرب» به کار گرفته شده. تصویر زن خاورمیانه‌ای نیز با همین بازنمایی غربی گره خورده؛ تصویری ناقص، دور از واقعیت، دستکاری شده، آمیخته به انگاره‌های رازآلود و گاهی تهدید آمیز.
ما در خانه‌ی فرهنگی See You in Iran وظیفه‌ی خود می‌دانیم در راستای تغییر این بازنمایی تحریف شده از زنان خاورمیانه تلاش کنیم و با برگزاری رویدادهای فرهنگی و هنری، تصویری متفاوت و نزدیک به واقعیت از تجربه‌ی زیسته، چالش‌ها و دستاوردهای این زنان ارائه دهیم. به همین منظور در ماه‌های پیشِ رو سلسله جلساتی با تِم «زنان خاورمیانه» برگزار خواهیم کرد تا با به چالش کشیدن گفتمان غالب، فضایی برای تعامل و شنیدن روایت‌های کمتر شنیده شده فراهم آوریم. خانه‌ی فرهنگی پذیرای تمام علاقه‌مندان، فعالان و متخصصانی است که تمایل دارند در شکل‌دهی این سلسله رویدادها (چه از نظر ایده و چه اجرا) با See You in Iran همکاری کنند. با ما از طریق تلفن یا ایمیل در تماس باشید؛
