“Though there was little water in Karoun, he was still hoping to catch some fish. He’d spread his fishing net a few times and collect an empty net each time,” says Yasamin Hosseinnejad. Karoun is the river that cuts though the southern city of Ahvaz, where Hosseinnejad lives. “Here in Ahvaz, under the Cable Bridge, despite hot weather and low water level of Karoun, this fisherman kept doing his job to be able to make ends meet.”
