Here is a picture of a selfless medical practitioner working non-stop at the frontlines of the fight with Covid-19 in rural areas of the northern Mazandaran Province. “Niloofar was a physician friend of mine,” says photographer Masoumeh Bahrami, describing the 19-years-old woman whom she has photographed many times during the recent months. “She volunteered to visit coronavirus patients after working hours,” the photographer says. “She has examined and taken care of many coronavirus patients since the beginning of the pandemic. She fell sick at some point. Later, her family also caught the virus and she had the responsibility of taking care of them, too.”
Iran’s official number of coronavirus infections has exceeded 962,000 and the death toll is expected to soon surpass 50,000. Reports indicate that some 30% of the medical workers have been infected, with dozens dying of the disease. “She has been in touch with patients every day. She was moreover a volunteer for collecting donations and handing food and hygiene products to those in need,” says the photographer. In the photo, Niloofar is seen holding a small birthday cake to surprise the photographer for her birthday. “To be honest, I wasn’t even feeling like celebrating my own birthday when she came to my door with a cake and a gift to surprise me.”
این تصویر پزشک عمومی فداکاری است که بی‌وقفه در خط مقدم مبازره با ویروس کرونا در بخش روستایی استان مازندران فعالیت میکند. معصومه بهرامی عکاس درباره‌ی این زن که او در ماه‌های گذشته به وقور از او عکاسی کرده است، میگوید: «نيلوفر دوست پزشك من بود. با شيوع كرونا داوطلب كمك به افراد در خارج ساعت كاری شد. او تعداد زیادی مریض کرونایی رو ویزیت و درمان کرده و خودش هم در همین حین مبتلا به کرونا شد. بعد از خودش خونواده‌ش هم کرونا گرفتند و مسئولیت درمان اونا رو هم به عهده داشت.»
آمار رسمی مبتلایان به کرونا در ایران به 962000 و آمار مرگ بر اثر این بیماری به زودی به 50000 خواهد رسید. گزارش‌ها نشان میدهند که حدود 30% از پرسنل درمان به این ویروس مبتلا شده و ده‌ها نفر از آن‌ها جان خود را از دست داده‌اند. «او هر روز با بيماران در ارتباط بود بعد هم داوطلب كمك به مردم و حتی پخش مواد بهداشتی و غذايی بين افراد شد.» در این تصویر نیلوفر دیده میشود که به همراه کیک کوچکی آمده تا عکاس را در روز تولدش غافلگیر کند. او میگوید: «راستش من آن روزها حتی حوصله‌ی تولد خودم را نداشتم. او با كيكی كوچك وهديه‌ای به دم در خانه‌ی ما آمد.»
