Mehdi Nazeri’s ‘Daily work of Ali Hashem’ collection of photographs depicts, in what the photographer calls a surrealistic atmosphere, a realistic image of the difficulties of work in a now-abandoned red ochre factory in southern Hormuz Island. “In the series I have tried to picture the daily job of one of the workers there; a worker named Ali Hashem, who was one of the most active employees,” says Mehdi Nazeri, who is based in Bandar Abbas, southern Hormozgan Province. The factory has been closed for over three years, just as a flood of tourists put the spotlight on the island and its reserves of salt, ochre, sedimentary rocks and volcanic materials. Activists have been warning ever since about the environmental challenges facing the island. Hormuz’s soil has allegedly been “smuggled” and its beaches are littered with garbage left by visitors and passing ships. The factory’s executives claim to have established the firm to empower the locals. Workers like Ali Hashem, nonetheless, have complained of insufficient salaries and lax safety standards, among other difficulties. Ali Hashem has found a new job in the island of Qeshm, says the photographer.
سری عکسهای «کار روزانه علی هاشم» از مهدی ناظری، در فضایی که عکاس آن را سورئال میخواند، تصویر واقع‌گرایانه‌ای از سختی‌های کار در کارخانه‌ی حالا رهاشده‌ی خاک سرخ جزیره‌ی هرمز نشان میدهد. عکاس ساکن بندرعباس میگوید: «در این مجموعه عکس سعی شده کار روزانه‌ی یکی از کارگرهای آنجا به تصویر کشیده بشه؛ کارگری به نام علی هاشم که یکی از کارگرهای فعال کارخانه بود.» کارخانه بیش از سه سال است که تعطیل شده است. همزمان، روانه‌شدن سیل توریست‌ها به هرمز، توجه‌ها را به این جزیره و منابع نمک، اخرا، سنگ‌های رسوبی و مواد آتشفشانی آنجا جلب کرد. از آن زمان، فعالان محیط زیست درباره‌ی چالشهای زیست‌محیطی در این جزیره هشدار داده‌اند. مسائلی مربوط به قاچاق خاک جزیره مطرح شده است و سواحل منطقه با زباله‌های رها شده توسط گردشگران و کشتی‌های گذری پوشیده میشود. اگرچه مسئولان کارخانه ادعا میکنند که تاسیس آن در جهت افزایش قدرت اقتصادی مردم بومی بوده است، کارگرانی مانند علی هاشم از دستمزد ناکافی، نبود استاندارد‌های ایمنی و سختی‌های دیگر شکایت کرده‌اند. عکاس میگوید علی هاشم حالا کار جدیدی در جزیره‌ی قشم پیدا کرده است.
